Preventing occupational stress in healthcare workers

Many healthcare workers often suffer from work-related or occupational stress due to high expectations coupled with insufficient time, skills and/or social support at work. This systematic search of the literature focuses on the prevention of stress or burnout in healthcare workers. This study concluded:

Effective interventions to reduce burnout, anxiety, and stress in healthcare workers include a cognitive-behavioural approach, combined with or without relaxation techniques.

When an intervention takes place, the results may be apparent for up to six months to two years after the end of the intervention.
